ARGYLE, The Plymouth YMCA and The John Kitto Community College have been working in collaboration to deliver a Football Education programme since September 2008.The course has enabled 16-18 year olds the opportunity to combine their education with the development of their football skills.

The students are coached by professionals from the community team whilst receiving their education through the Plymouth YMCA Training Department.

Mark Gammon, Plymouth YMCA Training Manager commented: "The Plymouth YMCA has worked with Plymouth Argyle Football Club for the last eight years delivering their scholarship programme to professionals such as Luke Summerfield, Gary Sawyer and Dan Gosling.

"Our new Development Programme was designed last year to give other young players the opportunity to be coached and educated alongside the scholarship programme. The Plymouth YMCA works with over two hundred 14-19 year olds on a weekly basis delivering courses in Sport and the Public Services.

"The courses range from level one to level three with many students progressing onto Higher Education on completion of their studies. Both Plymouth Argyle and the Plymouth YMCA are pleased to announce that this scheme will continue for the foreseeable future and are currently looking to recruit young players for next season starting in September 2009.
