ARGYLE are pleased to announce its continuing development with Ivybridge Community College. From September 2011, it will be running a new Football Development & Education programme at the college for boys and girls aged between 16-18 years old.
The programme has been in existence for more than a year and is designed for aspiring talented young footballers to harness their technical development under the Argyle umbrella.
The course gives young people who may not have been offered scholarships at professional clubs the opportunity to stay involved at a high standard of football and be coached by a professional football club.
This full-time course encourages talented young footballers the opportunity to enhance their development as players, through quality coaching led by a team of highly qualified UEFA coaches.
At the same time, experienced academic tutors will ensure the students gain a full education programme suited to the needs of the individual.
In addition, the students will also be able to gain their Level 1 Certificate in Football Coaching and their Sports Leaders' Award qualification alongside a number of academic qualifications.
The coaching offered throughout this course is designed to improve the ability of the student and, as part of this process, the students will play in competitive matches throughout the course.
Students will train and play against teams participating in the British Colleges League, alongside other professional football clubs throughout the year.
The Argyle Football Development & Education package will utilise the club to allow students the opportunity to participate within a comprehensive football training programme without sacrificing their academic studies.
The course aims to use the vehicle of sport and the physical environment to provide an innovative and highly exciting location for learning.
The arena will improve student attainment whilst raising self-esteem and confidence and providing a professional football structure to their education.
Anyone interested in finding out more information is invited to an open evening at Home Park where teachers and coaches will be on hand to answer questions and deliver a presentation.
The boys' presentation is on December 14 and girls' evening is on December 15, both starting at 7pm in the Argyle Boardroom.
