PLYMOUTH-BASED company Independent Utilities became an Argyle close-season capture after signing on as official energy partner to the club.

The company, which is run by brothers Joedy and Chaz Lawrence, has signed a three-year commitment which provides commercial income for Argyle; gives Argyle fans the chance to save money on their utilities bills; and, through an innovative fundraising scheme, plough money into Argyle's Football in the Community project.

Joedy Lawrence, director of Independent Utilities, explained: "We've teamed up with the award-winning Utility Warehouse to offer exclusive tariffs to Argyle fans.

"The new scheme is really simple; for every fan that signs up, up to 5% will go straight to Argyle's Football in the Community project."

Steve Davies, head of sales & marketing at Argyle, said: "We are delighted that Independent Utilities have partnered with us.

"They have already made an impact by significantly reducing the club's utility bills, both at Home Park and at our store in Drake Circus. We are really pleased that this deal benefits both the club and the fans."

IU also sponsor Argyle's Icelandic international midfielder Kári Árnáson and Chaz Lawrence, director, said: "Both Joedy and I are keen Argyle fans so we are delighted to work with the club in an arrangement which benefits everybody with an interest in the club.

"We believe this partnership boosts our position as the leading independent broker of utilities to business and domestic customers across the region."
