KEVIN SUMMERFIELD
KEVIN Summerfield or 'Summers' has been assistant to Paul Sturrock since their first spell at Argyle.
As a player, Kevin was a battling midfielder who started his career at West Bromwich Albion in 1977. During this time, Summers won England Youth accolades six times.
After more than five years at the Hawthorns he moved down the road to Walsall before moving to Cardiff, Argyle, Exeter and finally Shrewsbury where he would eventually become player/coach.
After hanging up his boots in 1996, Kevin took charge of the Shrew's youth team before becoming a coach here at Argyle under the guidance of then manager Kevin Hodges. When Hodges was sacked in 2000, Summerfield became caretaker manager until the appointment of Paul Sturrock.
When Luggy left for the Saints, Summers took charge again, this time for nine games, before joining him at Southampton. Kevin also followed Luggy to Sheffield Wednesday and Swindon, and now back to Home Park.
Kevin's son Luke Summerfield is currently a player here at Argyle.
