IAN Holloway finally got his man on Friday when Manchester United midfielder Lee Martin joined Argyle.
The 20-year-old Westcountryman has signed an initial three-month loan with the Pilgrims, who beat three other Championship sides for his signature.
Martin will meet up with his new temporary team-mates at Manchester Airport today prior to their Saturday game at Blackpool, for which he will be available for selection.
"I think he brings something we haven't got," said Holloway. "He likes to run with it; he likes to take people on, right side or left side or even up front."
The successful conclusion to Argyle's pursuit of Martin, who is equally at home on either flank, follows last season's Home Park loan of Chelsea starlet Scott Sinclair.
"This is another step," said Ian Holloway. "This is making a bigger statement than that - he's chosen us over other Championship sides, supposedly bigger and better than us, so this myth about coming to Plymouth…we're gradually smashing that with a mallet.
Martin , from Taunton, has been pursued by Holloway since United's exit from the Carling Cup two weeks ago, and a bit longer.
"We've been following him for about three years," said the Argyle manager. "Gary Penrice and I have wanted to take him because we believe in him.
"I don't want to hype him up too much. He's a fresh, young talent who wants to learn and wants to get some first-team experience, and he chose us over three other Championship sides where, in the past, I'm sure he would have gone."
Martin played in that Old Trafford defeat by Coventry and has made one other first-team appearance for Alex Ferguson's men, also in the League Cup.
He has also enjoyed loan spells in the Scottish Premiership, with Rangers, and in the Championship last season, with Stoke City.
