HAPPY EASTER
EASTER weekend was the perfect time for Argyle's Welsh international striker to break his recent one-on-one hoodoo.
Jermaine Easter fired a cultured finish past Watford's Richard Lee to give Argyle the lead in a battling 1-1 draw at Home Park.
Manager Paul Sturrock revealed he had discussed finishing technique with Easter prior to the Hornets' visit following recent disappointments in one-on-one situations for the former Wycombe man.
"I had a word with him about the height and angle he was trying to shoot at," said Luggy.
"I felt he was trying to score at the near post. He played it across the goalie today and hit it a bit lower, so, maybe that is one up for the strikers."
Big Kiwi Rory Fallon played a big part in Easter's goal, carrying on from his match-winning performance at Bristol City last weekend.
"Rory was different class in the first-half," said Luggy. "He did everything we asked him to do and, hopefully, the penny has dropped with him."
Easter was naturally delighted to find the net and admitted the new approach had clearly worked a treat.
He said: "Rory put me through and I have been in that position a few times over the last few weeks.
"I decided to go with placement instead of power. I've spoken to the Gaffer and he told me what he thinks I need to do to improve. I took his advice and the ball went in."
Delight was tempered by disappointment for Easter, who felt referee Phil Joslin ruined the game.
Joslin awarded Watford a controversial free-kick three minutes after Easter's opener, from which Lee Williamson curled in an exquisite equalizer.
There was more controversy when Joslin sent-off Péter Halmosi for two bookable offences in the second-half.
"The referee spoiled the game to be honest," said Easter.
"I can't understand why he has given the free-kick for their goal and I thought Péter was very unlucky with the sending-off.
"A point with ten men is a decent result. It keeps us in sixth place and in with a chance going into the last six games.
"We were disappointed not to get all three points but we have confidence going into the next six games.
"Everybody has written us off from day one and that is fine with us. We will just go about our business and, hopefully, we can sneak in there [to the play-offs]."
