ASHLEY Barnes scored twice in ten second-half minutes to end Cheltenham's stubborn resistance in an exciting Pontins League battle at Home Park.
Dan Smith added a fabulous third for the Greens after an exasperating first 45 minutes when fine build-up play had been ruined by woeful finishing.
Daniel Maynard pulled one back for the Robins before Chris Clark completed the scoring in the final minute.
Lee Hodges was partnered in the centre of defence by giant trialist Amadu Picard, and when I say giant, I mean Timár is a mouse in comparison, giant.
Clark was deployed in an unfamiliar role at right-back with young Shane Duggan occupying the opposite defensive wing.
Yoann Folly and Luke Summerfield formed the central midfield duo with Smith and Nadjim Abdou providing the width. Jarred Stevens started up front with Barnes.
Argyle started the game in a hurry with the combined power of Barnes and Stevens ruffling the Robins' defensive feathers, and Folly almost took full advantage with a stinging drive that flew just wide.
The visitors were struggling to contend with Argyle's aerial dominance, so, when Lé Monster went forward for a corner, the Robins almost looked in pre-windscreen-messing mode.
Barnes cut through the shaken defence on 12 minutes and sent an inviting ball across goal that either Stevens or Smith would have turned in had they been wearing rugby studs.

Barnes and Stevens swapped roles for the next foray, and Barnes should have done better with the low cross than a tame side-footer wide of the target from eight yards.
Duggan and Smith began to terrorise Cheltenham's right side, and quite how the Pilgrims failed to open the scoring after a succession of teasing crosses remains as big a mystery as how Lé Monster was felled by a soft challenge from the diminutive Theo Lewis moments later.

It was enough for rezzie supreme Geoff Crudgington to introduce Shane White in his stead. I take it all back Krisztián. Compared to the Beast of Budapest, this display was a tad Monsters Inc.
Stevens shifted the emotions from surprise to awe with a dazzling run down and the right. The striking-star of Argyle's run to the Quarter Finals of the FA Youth Cup picked out Smith with a perfect low cross, but the ball somehow evaded his poised foot with the goal gaping.
For all Argyle's dominance, visiting 'keeper Joe Perry, whose defeat in qualifying enabled him to visit Home Park rather than the Crucible Theatre this week, had barely made a save, and when he did, it was a comfortable gobble-up of Barnes' dipping shot.
The Greens came within a sternum of paying for their wastefulness on 40 minutes when a Clark clearance thundered into a fleshy area of Dean Maynard. Saxton was able to pounce on the ricochet, which surely would have crossed the line if it had hit a firmer body-part.
Folly ended the half with a flurry, picking out Stevens with a delicious through-ball, but the youngster fired his shot inches wide of Perry's charmed goal.
Stevens went back to provider seconds later with more fabulous skill to set-up Summerfield. Unfortunately, can't-shoot-straight-itis is apparently highly contagious.
Shooting practise needed, Gaffer.
The Houdini first-half performance had obviously given the Robins confidence as the second period started with the visitors enjoying a decent share of the possession, although Smith did get Perry scrambling with a scuttling drive that bobbled just past the post.
The Greens eventually began to re-assert themselves and a battling run by Barnes was the catalyst. The former Paulton youngster tackled, barged and harried his way through the Cheltenham defence before unleashing a powerful drive that Perry fended off with his legs.
Crudgie replaced the hardworking Stevens on 65 minutes with England schoolboy international Liam Head, who was enjoying his first taste of Home Park action.

Within seconds, Argyle took the lead. Head was not involved, although his presence may have diverted Robins' attention from Barnes, who found space in the channel to fire a left-shoot across Perry and into the far corner.
Smith claimed the assist as Barnes finally proved Perry had not blessed his goal with some weird ball-deflecting witchcraft before the game.
Maynard had a chance to bring the scores swiftly level but showed all the balance of a newly-born giraffe on vodka when spooning his left-foot strike way off target.
Barnes doubled his tally for the afternoon with a well-placed header over the grasping hand of Perry after Summerfield had hooked an Abdou corner back into the danger area.
The shooting boots were now firmly returned to Green feet and Smith made it 3-0 with the goal of the afternoon, picking up the ball on the right and rifling a superb shot in off the underside of the bar from 20 yards.

Perry had time to make a brave block from Head before Maynard grabbed a consolation for the Robins when he nodded home from close range after a raking drive had looped up off the bar.
Clark put the seal on an enjoyable afternoon with a fine low drive from the edge of the area that nestled happily into the bottom corner of Perry's now weary-looking net.
Scrub that shooting practise, Gaffer.
