THE sun has set on Lilian Nalis's Indian summer with Paul Sturrock's decision not to retain the services of the veteran French midfielder.
Nalis joined the Pilgrims as a 34-year-old two years ago, and twice earned himself contract extensions after typically wholehearted and tireless performances.
After being signed by Tony Pulis in January 2006, Nalis played every minute of every game until the end of the season, forming an excellent partnership with Paul Wotton in the midfield engine room and becoming an integral part of the Argyle squad.
The convivial Frenchman, 37 in September, enjoyed another excellent campaign last season and his performances rightly led to him being named player of the season at the end of year awards bash.

"Not offering Lilian Nalis a new contract was a choice that I did not make lightly," said Luggy.
"It has been a real pleasure to work with Lil, who rightly commands so much respect and affection, on and off the field. It was no fluke that he was our fans' choice as player of the season a year ago."
Lil made the last of his 111 appearances for the Greens as a substitute in last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Preston.
"He came to the club on a short-term deal in January 2006, and stayed for two and a half seasons, which tells its own story," said Luggy.
"He was the perfect captain in Wottsy's absence after Barry Hayles left, and my only regret about Lil is that I did not have the chance to work with him when we were both a bit younger.
"I'd like to thank Lil for everything he brought to the club, as well as to the team, and our best wishes for the future go to him and his family."
