THE NEW NORRIS
CHRIS Clark is the quiet man of the Argyle squad but his recent performances warrant loud praise.
Manager Paul Sturrock likened his energetic style from the wings as a throwback to the days of former Green favourite David Norris.
Clark joined the Pilgrims from Aberdeen in January and Luggy feels that having his family in the area and playing in his preferred position has helped bring consistency to his game.
"I think we have got another Norris," said Luggy.
"The one ingredient we have added this season is having his family in the area.
"Chris seems to be a homely kind of person and he is settled down with a house now, and fitted in with the Plymouth psyche.
"I am also using him in the position that is probably his best. He can go inside or outside and he can use his strengths because he is very athletic.
"It is a combination of things which has given him consistency levels and decent performances.
"The one attribute that has disappointed me so far is his shooting. In training, he is great at shooting with either foot. He has not brought that to the show yet.
"He was played from pillar to post [at Aberdeen]. Defensive midfield was one of his long-term positions at Aberdeen.
"He also played full-back quite regularly. He was never going to score many goals from those positions.
"Jim Paterson is capable of playing a similar role - he proved that last year with his performances at Southampton and Leicester.
"He can give us the same kind of up and down performance. Jim wants to competitive as far playing at left-back but he gives me another string to my bow in having a Norris-type player on the pitch.
"The last two games has proved to me that is essential away from home. We have got to be very athletic down the side because of the amount of work they have to do.
"Tony Capaldi and Norris are prime examples of people who can go up and down the football pitch all day."
