LUCKY BOY

Posted on: Mon 29 Sep 2008

RORY Fallon believes hard work and a bit of help from upstairs enabled him to score the only goal of the game in Argyle's victory over Nottingham Forest.

The big Kiwi charged down a clearance by Wes Morgan, which rebounded into the net to secure Argyle's first home win of the season, and their third Championship victory on the bounce.

Fallon said: "The guys said I was luck but I said, 'I am blessed', and I thank God for the goal.

"It was just one of those things. I closed him down as quickly as I could and my hard work paid off. He just kicked it against my leg and it went in.

"We really wanted to get our first win. It has been tough for the fans but we can hopefully come on from this.

"It has been a bit unlucky for the home fans not to see the away performances we have had but that's football sometimes.

"We have been working so hard and you could just see today that the boys are tired but we are going to focus on the next game now.

"All I can do is give 100% and play for God. I play for my team-mates and I thank the Gaffer for putting faith in me and playing me.

"I thank the fans for getting behind us because it gives us a lot of confidence when they are behind us.

"Even when it wasn't happening for us, I still believed we could do something.

"I never go in with the attitude that we are not going to do well. I always believe we can do well, no matter what the team is [we are playing against].

"We are starting to work hard for each other and give 100%."

Next up for Rory and his team-mates is Tuesday's trip to Bristol City and the Kiwi will be desperate to repeat his match-winning brace of last season.

He said: "We are going to look after ourselves over the weekend, eat the right things, do the right things and stay off our feet, and be ready for Tuesday.

"We can enjoy it for tonight but it is back to business tomorrow. We are looking forward to Bristol - it is a special game.

"I hope we can repeat the same performance as last season and get stuck into them.

"We have got three in a row and I am hoping we can make it four."
