MATHIAS Doumbe has done a fantastic job as an emergency right-back in the absence of the injured David McNamee.

The converted centre-back has once again proven to be an accomplished defender but manager Paul Sturrock admitted that he occasionally has to sacrifice Doumbe when the Pilgrims are chasing a game.

"Mat is a converted centre-back and he gives us certain attributes," said Luggy.

"When you are losing football games, Mat is not one of the ones who are going to open the door with a pass, so you have got bring in other people to service the front quicker and better.

"That is nothing away from Mat Doumbe. He has done well for me."
