NOT MY GOAL

Posted on: Mon 05 Jan 2009

DAVID Gray has denied he scored an own goal on his debut for Argyle in the 3-1 FA Cup defeat at Arsenal.

Media reports suggested Gray got the final touch for Arsenal's second goal but the man on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season insisted the last touch came off Nicklas Bendtner.

"I have had nothing but stick from my mates, scoring on my debut," he said.

"It actually never touched me at all. He [Bendtner] beat to me it, which was a bit disappointing because, if I had got there first, it wouldn't have gone that way - it would have went out of the goal.

"I didn't think anything of it until after the match, when the lads were saying I scored an own goal.

"Seeing the replay again, it is hard to see, and it does look like we both made contact at the same time, but Bendtner definitely scored it."
