HEARTBREAKER

Posted on: Wed 04 Feb 2009

DAVID McNamee sustained a suspected fractured cheekbone in Argyle's 1-1 draw at Preston North End.

It is a terribly cruel blow for the injury-plagued defender, who has suffered a succession of set-backs since joining the Pilgrims in the summer from Coventry.

"David looks to have a suspected fractured cheekbone," said manager Paul Sturrock.

"I am so sorry for the boy because he was playing so well, In the last three years he's had every injury you can think about.

"He's sat in that room shaking his head in disbelief and I am the same. He is an exceptional talent that has had a disappointing three years.

"I thought now he was just starting to come again. The three or four [games] he has played for us, he's done very well. I was hoping for him to kick-on.

"It looks as though he could be out long-term."
