THE first major prize winner for the Argyle Foundation was Roger Battershill from Looe, who won a fantastic 'Away Day Experience'.

A season-ticket holder for many years, he and his wife Dawn were treated to an all-expenses paid weekend away to Ipswich recently.

The Battershills began their journey Friday afternoon when they flew from Plymouth Airport with the team. That night in Ipswich, they indulged in an excellent meal while overlooking the town's impressive waterside redevelopment.

Upon their arrival to Portman Road on match day, the couple were treated to a three course meal inside the Bobby Robson suite before taking in the view from the Director's Box as Argyle held the Tractor Boys to a 0-0 draw.

"This weekend will live with us for ever," said Roger.

"Everyone with whom we came into contract was welcoming and friendly.

"Every bit of the two days reflected the family orientation of the club, and the spirit and conduct of the team is a great credit to all concerned.

"To anyone considering supporting the crucial element of Youth Development by joining the Argyle Foundation, I would unhesitatingly say 'do it'.

"The experience was priceless"
