ARGYLE are holding contract discussions with young striker Ashley Barnes.
The emergence of Barnes and the development of his strike-partnership with Jamie Mackie over recent weeks has been a revelation.
Manager Paul Sturrock has opened lines of communication with the youngster about extending his contract beyond the summer, although the busy fixture schedule has hindered the process.
"We are in discussions," said Luggy.
"The games have come thick and fast, so it's been a difficult one. I'd rather he concentrates on the games than a contract."
The Barnes - Mackie combination has been causing problems for a number of Championship defences and Luggy feels he has now found a willing endeavour in the van.
Rookie striker George Donnelly has also pleased his manager and, if the Greens can secure their Championship status, there is a chance the new recruit from Skelmersdale could make his debut before the end of the season.
Luggy said: "A lot of managers have been receptive to the two of them. A lot of centre-halves have been receptive to the two of them, and George is starting to fit into that kind of mould as well.
"I was very pleased with him in the reserve game [against Salisbury] the other day.
"It would be nice to have those two playing, tiring, and centre-halves to think 'thank God for that, one of them is going off', to receive another one of the same ilk coming back on.
"We have found a niche in the way we want to play and we have found willing endeavour, which, tempered properly, is always dangerous.
"A taste for him [Donnelly] coming off the bench may be appropriate. He needs that taste to show him the standard."
