POTENTIAL is a word Argyle manager Paul Sturrock uses a lot and it's not surprising considering the wealth of young talent he has at his disposal.
Just this week, Centre of Excellence products Luke Summerfield and Damien McCrory have signed new contracts and it is the latter that Luggy will be keeping an eye on during the pre-season.
"That's the reason why he's got a contact." Said Luggy when asked about McCrory's future.
"Damien went from being a youth player and then all of a sudden went to playing for Port Vale in League One.
"[He] came back a much better player for it and the progression he's showed from the time he left to the time he came back, if he can progress again like that I think that after the pre-season training we're going to have quite a player on our hands."
McCrory came through the Argyle ranks as a tricky left winger but his time at Vale Park saw him occupy a much more defensive role and Luggy is keen to help the youngster find his best position.
I talk to Sloop [Coach John Blackley] and he thinks he could be a very, very good left back.
"I'm coming round to believing that he could be a very good left sided player, able to play up top so I'm not going to hinder him in either position - I'm going to work him on both."
Meanwhile, Luggy confirmed that young 'keeper Lloyd Saxton is currently considering a new contract from the club.
"Lloyd has been made an offer and he's thinking about.
"I had a word with Lloyd before I went on holiday and let my thoughts be known. He's a development player as well and it's now up to him to make a decision."
Luggy also said that he would use the pre-season to take a look at former Skelmersdale pair Craig Noone and George Donnelly.
"The pre-season will be a big considering factor and then I'll make a decision on what the best way to develop them [Noone & Donnelly] is.
"Nooney shows an excitement in his game for fans last season and the boy Donnelly looked a handful lwhen he turned up but the proof will be in the pudding with pres-season training and with friendlies.
