NEW CAPTAIN
ROMAIN Larrieu is the new Argyle club captain.
The long-serving French goalkeeper, last year's player of the season, will fill a season-long Home Park dressing-room void.
The Pilgrims were without a club captain last season after the departure of long-time skipper Paul Wotton at the end of the previous campaign.
"Romain has been involved with the football club for a long time," said manager Paul Sturrock, "and is a good ambassador, and a good organiser off the park.
"I have already spoken to him and he knows the position - he will be club captain."
Ro, 32, will shortly start his tenth season with us.
He made his debut in a Football League Trophy game against Bristol City in December 2000, and has since played another 255 times.
However, Ro will not be team captain and lead the Pilgrims out in the 2009-10 Coca-Cola Championship season.
"I am not a great believer in goalies being team captains," said Luggy.
Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Lloyd Saxton has signed a new one-year deal.
"I have seen development in him," said Luggy. "I'm very pleased with his development.
"It's difficult for a young goalkeeper. It takes a long time to gain the experience you need.
"He will be on the bench [for first-team games] next season and play in reserve matches. That will help him come along."
