ARGYLE manager Paul Sturrock left Simon Walton out of the Pilgrims' Scottish tour party because of the player's desire to be a central defender.
Simon, who was signed, and was last season used exclusively, as a midfielder sees his future career in the back four - an area where Luggy feels he is well served.
"He wants to play centre-back and there are other players ahead of him at centre-back," said Luggy, after the Pilgrims' 2-0 friendly win at Skelmersdale on Saturday.
Marcel Seip and Mathias Kouo-Doumbe filled the two centre-back positions against the Unibond North Division One side, whilst Krisztián Timár, Chris Barker and Gary Sawyer can all play the role.
"Everybody was told that, performance-wise, 22 players were going to get taken [on the tour]: Simon's been left behind."
Luggy did not rule out calling on the services of Walts, who, along with Yoann Folly and first-year pros Ben Gerring, Ryan Brett and Joe Mason, is being coached back at Home Park next week by living Pilgrims' legend Kevin Hodges.
"Everybody's got a future," said Luggy. "If certain players got injured, or anything else, he's available.
"Simon and I have had a good discussion about his whole scenario here and I think it's vitally important that he appreciates the situation."
