PAUL Sturrock has predicted big things from Kári Árnáson after the Icelandic international's debut at Derby County on Saturday.

Arnie played at centre-back alongside Marcel Seip and, impressive as he was, Luggy feels he will be used more as a midfielder in the future.

"I thought he was outstanding," said the Pilgrims' manager.

"He did everything right that we were looking for. I think he'll be a real asset to the football club.

"I don't see him playing there as a regular occurrence - just ahead of that is where he'll find a niche. I think his aerial threat in both boxes will be a great benefit to us."

Arnie was drafted in to take the place of Krisztián Timár, who did not travel to the midlands despite having featured in all three of the Pilgrims' previous Championship matches.

"!There's no point in bringing along a player who's not going to get stripped. We're just tiring a player out. It's a waste of energy.

"I made a conscious decision I was going to go with Árnáson today, and I feel Réda Johnson is good coverage on the bench.

"I'm sure Kisztián and I will have a conversation before long."

Luggy assigned no blame to Arnie for Derby's last-minute goal, which gave them a 2-1 win when centre-back Miles Addison headed home a corner.

"Romain [Larrieu]'s held his hands up," said Luggy.

"Romain shouted that he was going to take it and Arnie's left it to him. The next minute, it's in the back of the net."
