Argyle, with ten professionals in the starting XI, were no match for the League One outfit, and swept them away with some style.
Ashley Barnes opened the scoring in the 12th minute, with Luke Summerfield (15) and Bradley Wright-Phillips (16) scoring twice in a minute.
Joe Mason (29) and Yoann Folly (31) then added further goals.
Bournemouth got one back just before half time through but after the break, Bradley Wright-Phillips (48), Ashley Barnes (59) and Joe Mason (61) made it eight.
Barnes then completed his hat-trick on 75 minutes to give the Pilgrims a massive confidence boost ahead of their televised Coca-Cola Championship clash with Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
