SWINDON RESERVES 3 ARGYLE RESERVES 2

Posted on: Tue 20 Oct 2009

PAUL Mariner accompanied Argyle manager Paul Sturrock for the trip to watch Argyle's second string in the totesport.com Combination match at Swindon Town.

The pair watched the Greens slip to a 3-2 in a closely-fought encounter at the County Ground.

Unusually, the game was held on the same day as a Championship fixture, and both Mariner and Luggy were quickly back on the M4 for our meeting with Bristol City tonight.

Mariner is expected to join Luggy in the dug-out at Ashton Gate in his first outing as Argyle's new Head Coach.

It was a horrible start for the Greens in swindon, with the home side sweeping into a 2-0 lead in the first nine minutes. Michael Timlin and Charlie Austin hit the target for the Robins.

Argyle gradually clawed their way back into the game after the rampant hosts had threatened to over-run our young team.

Joe Mason restored some hope two minutes before half-time after he latched onto a Liam Head flick to thump the ball home from close range.

Former Pilgrim Hasney Aljofree played the first 45 minutes for Swindon, as part of his recovery from a long-term injury absence.

Argyle's stuttering recovery suffered a set-back soon after the interval when Austin beat Kyle Letheren to bag his second goal of the game.

Mason continued to be Argyle's biggest threat and he was rewarded for a productive with a late consolation.

Now, back to the real business for Argyle's dynamic duo.
