FRESH VOICE

Posted on: Fri 23 Oct 2009

PAUL Mariner has immediately immersed himself into the training routines of the Argyle squad.

The club's new Head Coach joined manager Paul Sturrock at Harper's Park, as the team prepares for Saturday's visit of Ipswich Town to Home Park.

Luggy took the majority of the session and admitted it was a nice change after previously delegating a great deal of coaching responsibilities to the recently departed assistant manager Kevin Summerfield.

"Mariner was on the training ground and I've taken a lot more of training myself," said Luggy.

"We worked out all the training and he got straight into it. I thought it was important for the players to hear his voice.

"He has come here to be an influence to the team. He hasn't come here to be somebody that just stands on the side and watches.

"I had a word with the players about the scenario and we soldier on.

"It is a bit different for me but it was a nice sunny day, I got my work done and blew my whistle for a change.

"We have put freshness to the coaching side and there is a lot more to be done as part of the five-year plan.

"There are a lot of things to happen at this club, which will be significant to where this club finishes up over the next five or six seasons."
