CHUFFING GREAT DEAL
TRAIN operator First Great Western has teamed up with Argyle to offer fans £6 return fares to Saturday home games.
The Argyle Return will allow supporters of the team to travel from all High Speed Train stations between Penzance and Plymouth in time for matches from now until the end of the season.
Customer comforts are at the forefront of everything First Great Western does and the ticket will only be valid on selected High Speed Trains, to help avoid overcrowding on local services.
Fans can board the 11am from Penzance and then have the choice of returning on either the 5.29pm, 6.42pm, 8.39pm or 9.20pm high speed service.
Stations stops on the route include St Erth, Camborne, Redruth, Truro, St Austell and Bodmin. The ticket is also available from St Ives branch line stations and Falmouth branch line stations.
With the chance to knock up to £3.50 off their ticket price, we hope the Argyle Return will encourage more fans to travel by train.
Football Club Chief Operating Officer, Tony Campbell, said: "I'm really pleased that we have been able to agree a deal with First Great Western that will benefit all of our supporters from Cornwall.
"Apart from making a return ticket more affordable, the new Argyle return service runs at a far more convenient time for our supporters. With the first train now leaving Plymouth at 5.29pm, the fans should be able to stay until the end of the game without having to rush off before the final whistle."
First Great Western Retail, Sales and Distribution Manager, Paul Bowden, said: "Plymouth Argyle approached us to discuss how we could make it easier for their Cornish fans to travel to home matches by train. This agreement is the first step in the wider partnership we are beginning to develop with Plymouth Argyle and we are pleased to offer their fans the option to leave their car at home and travel with us by rail."
