ARGYLE manager Paul Sturrock has dismissed reports that Gary Sawyer has rejected a new contract.

A story appeared in the last few days suggesting the left-back was not interested in an extension to his current deal, which runs out in June, but Luggy feels it could be the work of a canny agent.

"I don't know how far we've gone down that road," he said. "I haven't really talked to Gary yet.

"It is normal in any negotiations. It is a wee bit naughty and I think his agent fished it out, but we'll wait and see.

"How many times have you seen this happen?"
