JOE Mason has signed an extension to his current contract at Home Park.

The young striker was given with a one-year professional contract in the summer after two successful seasons in the youth team, and his development continued under the stewardship of Paul Sturrock.

Luggy rewarded Mason with a first-team debut against Sheffield United in December and the arrival of new Head Coach Paul Mariner has seen further progress.

"Joe has got a very bright future. He's been training with us for a number of weeks. He made his debut for us and every time I look at him in training, he gets better and better." said Mariner.

"He's training very hard and whatever we throw at him, he seems able to cope with it, and that's why he's with the first-team squad."
