TEN-MAN Argyle reached the quarter-finals of the Westinsure Devon St Lukes Cup on Tuesday night, when they won 3-1 at Buckland Athletic.
Senior pro Steve MacLean nursed the young Pilgrims side to a 2-0 half-time lead against the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier Division side, combining with Sean Kinsella to set up Liam Head for the first before netting the second himself.
Pilgrims' goalkeeper Lloyd Saxton was defeated by John Rimmer's header midway through the second half, but Luke Young restored Argyle's two-goal advantage within five minutes.
The Pilgrims played the last quarter of an hour with 10 men when defender Curtis Nelson limped off injured after the Greens had used all three available substitutions.
