STEVE MacLean has joined Aberdeen on loan until the end of the season.
The Scottish Premier League side have been targeting the Argyle striker since the summer and his lack of first-team opportunities at Home Park has helped secure the move.
MacLean arrived at Argyle for a fee £500,000 from Cardiff City in January 2008. In his first four months with the Greens MacLean scored three goals and generally impressed with his cultured play.
The following campaign was one of frustration for MacLean, as he found himself on the fringes of Paul Sturrock's first-team. This season has also been a disappointment, with the Scot only making four appearances for the Greens, the last of which came at West Brom in September.
MacLean began his career as a youngster at Glasgow rangers but rose to prominence in a highly-successful loan spell at Scunthorpe. His form with the Iron caught the attention of Sturrock, who took him to Sheffield Wednesday.
He remains a hero at Hillsborough for scoring a crucial penalty in Wednesday's League One Play-Off Final win over Hartlepool United. The move to Cardiff followed in the summer of 2007 after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with injury.
MacLean's contract at Argyle expires in the summer of 2011.
