FANTASTIC ATTITUDE

Posted on: Tue 09 Feb 2010

CHRIS Barker has been hailed as an exemplary example of a fantastic attitude.

The versatile defender came back from a lengthy calf injury to produce some fine performances in January, but the return of Réda Johnson from the African Cup of Nations has limited Barks to bench-duty.

Although not where he wants to be, Head Coach Paul Mariner is delighted with the professionalism Barks has shown.

"He has got a fantastic attitude," said Mariner. "He knows exactly the score and he knows what we're thinking.

"He's not happy that he's not playing but he's happy to have all the facts, which, as a player, is all you're interested in."

Mariner also confirmed that he is looking for competition and cover for Kári Árnason in the right centre-back position.

"We have got no cover on the right-hand side for Arnie, so we're working on that," he said.
