ARGYLE are very hopeful of extending the loan deal with goalkeeper David Stockdale.

The Fulham stopper has played five times since joining in a one-month move from the Premier League side.

Head coach Paul Mariner is planning to finalise a new deal with Fulham boss Roy Hodgson after the Tuesday night clash with Swansea at Home Park.

"We're trying to extend his loan and it's looking extremely positive," he said. "I'll probably have more info after tonight's match.

"He has fitted into the squad very well. He's an amiable lad and he works very hard on his game. He has proven to everybody that he's very commanding in the box.

"He is a young goalkeeper and he has still got things to learn. David understands that and we have fantastic rapport with Roy Hodgson and Mike Kelly, who is his mentor and goalkeeping coach, and he speaks very highly of him.

"We're thankful to them for letting him out and we're very happy. If you ask the squad, I think they're happy as well."
