A BRILLIANT debut at Barnsley has given Argyle head coach Paul Mariner a new attacking option for the Championship run-in.
Yala Bolasie came on for a 30-minute cameo at Barnsley and wowed everyone with his pace and quality on the ball.
Mariner was understandably pleased with the display but he will not succumb to the temptation of starting Yala in the Tuesday night meeting with Swansea at Home Park.
"We spoke to him yesterday and flagged up everything that has been said in the newspaper, and all the quotes from various reports, and it's absolutely true," said Mariner.
"He's got a tremendous future and we had a frank conversation. He knows exactly where he is at the present moment and he agrees with us. We're looking forward to a very bright future for that young man.
"You can never predict what is going to happen in football. His learning curve has been remarkable since he came back. He has an appetite for the game, plays with a smile on his face and he has a thirst for knowledge. Willing is the wrong word. He is just thirsty to get better.
"He is studying the likes of [Ryan] Giggs and all the best players in that position. It's wonderful to hear that from young players.
"He is 20 and he's played 30 minutes in the Championship. It was a sparkling 30 minutes but 30 minutes doesn't make a player, so we'll keep working with him.
"You get experienced by playing but there is a time and a place, and just at the present moment, we have a difficult game against Swansea on Tuesday.
"You have got to be considerate when using young players. You don't want to rush them but you also don't want them to get stale.
"It was a good time to bring him on [at Barnsley]. When you're on the bench, you can be disappointed you're not in the team but when you come on, you've got to make an impact."
