PAUL Mariner believes that David Stockdale will never repeat the Bramall Lane howler that cost the Pilgrims a share of the spoils against Sheffield United.
Goalkeeper Stockdale, who is on loan from Fulham, failed to spot Blades' striker Richard Cresswell lurking behind him as he rolled the ball out, and allowed the United man to nip in and score what turned out to be the winner in a 4-3 thriller.
"It's a once-in-a-career error," said Paul. "Everybody in the stadium...I could see [Creswell] was going to do it, and he did it.
"[Stockdale]'s apologised to the lads, but what are you going to say to him? He feels like he wants to shoot himself.
"He's a young goalkeeper. He's learning his trade. I would think that Mike Kelly, [goalkeeping coach] at Fulham, has told him million times 'When you get the ball and are going to roll it out, have little check behind to see who's there'.
"The goals that we gave away were pretty poor goals. Shocking goals."
