THE performances of Chris Clark under the stewardship of head coach Paul Mariner have been a shining light in dark times.

Deployed in a multitude of positions, the unassuming Scot has achieved incredible consistency throughout Argyle's fight against relegation.

His latest role has been in centre-midfield as cover for injured skipper Carl Fletcher but with the captain expected to return for Saturday's massive game at Watford, Clarky is likely to find himself playing somewhere else, again.

"He has done a fantastic job," said Mariner. "If you look at the past performances, particularly away from home, and the players that we've used, we've been very fortunate, but you've got to temper your thoughts [on freshness].

"We have had a lot of football in a short space of time and Clarky has been at the forefront of that, so we're assessing how the players are feeling, but I would think he'll play Saturday."
