It is now a case of do or die for the Pilgrims and Mariner has reiterated his belief that the Green Army can still play a part in helping us beat the drop.

"The fans are the 12th man and all these things that are brought out in modern football," said the head coach.

"They are massive and they were a great crowd on Monday [against Middlesbrough]. It was a pity we couldn't win for them but they were fantastic.

"It does surprise all of us the amount of people that travel up from Plymouth. It is remarkable.

"The way that we've been playing in the last few weeks has seen us get a lot of mail from fans, and they like what they're seeing.

"It is the players that have done all the performing and they've been absolutely fantastic. We've just been very unlucky that things haven't really gone our way."
