FIRST STEP FOR RORY

Posted on: Mon 10 May 2010

RORY Fallon has been named in the New Zealand squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The Argyle striker famously scored the dramatic winner for New Zealand in their World Cup Play-Off against Bahrain in November.

Although first-team opportunities were limited at Home Park this season, Kiwi coach Ricki Herbert has stuck with his promise to reward the players that took New Zealand to the tournament for the first time since 1982.

Rory is one of five English-based players in the New Zealand squad with Blackburn's Ryan Nelsen named as skipper.

The All Whites begin their campaign against Slovakia on June 15 before tackling World Champions Italy on June 20, and their final group game will be four days later, with Paraguay the opponents.
