MASED OUT

Posted on: Tue 25 May 2010

ARGYLE striker Joe Mason has withdrawn from the Republic of Ireland U19 squad with food poisoning.

Mason had been called up to face England, Bosnia Herzegovina and host nation Ukraine in the elite stage qualifiers of UEFA's European under-19 Championships in Kiev.

Joe, who celebrated his 19th birthday earlier this month, made five starts and 14 substitute appearances for the Pilgrims last season, scoring three goals, to earn the club's Young Player of the Season award.

Although Plymouth born and bred, he qualifies to play for Ireland, because his mother hails from County Mayo.
