ARGYLE club captain Romain Larrieu has pledged his future to the club, signing a new two-year deal.

Romain, who is the club's longest serving player, has made over 250 appearances for Argyle and will mark ten years at Home Park in December having joined from ASOA Vallance in 2000.

Larrieu was delighted to be staying at Argyle and admitted he was proud to have such a long association with the club.

He said: "I'm obviously delighted because it will take me to over ten years with the club which is something that is very rarely achieved these days and to do that gives me a lot of pride.

"We've been working at different aspects of the contract and maybe waiting to have a manager, which I know the board are keen on resolving, and I wanted to stay here. It would have taken something really, really good to have tempted me away.

"[League One] is a league that I've played in and won. There are a lot of really good clubs in that league now but we should fancy ourselves.

"We need to prepare properly, have a good pre-season and then take every game as it comes."

With Argyle faltering in the bottom tier, former manager Paul Sturrock brought Larrieu to Home Park in December 2000 to bolster his goalkeeping options.

Romain made his debut in the Football League Trophy on December 5 and by March 2001, had cemented his status as the Pilgrims' number one.

Player of the Season in 2008, Romain is regarded by fans and team-mates a like as a true professional and great 'keeper.

Many more impressive displays have followed and having made 28 appearances to add to his tally last term, Ro will be looking to break the 300 appearance marker before his contract expires in 2012.
