SIMON Walton's loan to Sheffield United has been cancelled.

Argyle agreed to terminate the midfielder's spell with the Blades after Walts suffered a serious knee injury in pre-season.

Walts has now undergone surgery and will be monitored by the medical team at Home Park.

"The loan has been cancelled, so that they [Sheffield United] can bring in another loan player," said Argyle manager Peter Reid.

"He had an operation in Bradford and we will be monitoring him closely. I actually know the surgeon because he treated Niall Quinn when I was at Sunderland."

Meanwhile, Rory Fallon has had surgery on a hernia in his groin.

"It's a hernia and he had it done on Friday, so we'll wait for the doctors on that one," said Reid.
