ARGYLE manager Peter Reid spent his weekend assessing two of our forthcoming opponents.
Sheffield Wednesday visit Home Park on Saturday, September 25 before the Greens travel to Rochdale a week later.
It was a mixed weekend for the two clubs, with Rochdale notching an excellent win at Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday losing to Brentford.
"There are only four or five games gone but it's still good to get out and watch games," said Reid.
"Geographically, it's very difficult, as everybody knows, but it was good to get to Southampton because it always tells you something.
"People are feeling each other out and I saw Rochdale a lot last year, and they are a good passing team. They made it difficult for Southampton by packing five across the midfield and it worked out.
"Southampton had chances and the [Rochdale] keeper made a good save, but it was a great victory for Rochdale.
"You have also got to give credit to Brentford. Sheffield Wednesday had a lot of possession and Marcus Tudgay and Neil Mellor were a handful up front, but Brentford contended with it well.
"It was very interesting to have a look at four teams in our league."
