MIDFIELDER Luke Summerfield came through the youth ranks at Home Park at a time when his Dad, Kevin, was on the coaching staff.

The young Summers soon proved his own value with his cultured displays in midfield at reserve level and he scored a stunning volleyed winner in his full first-team debut, a 1-0 win at Colchester, in August 2006.

There was never a problem with talent in Luke's early years with Argyle but a need for him to bulk up arguably restricted his first-team appearances, and he was sent out on loan at Bournemouth in March 2007.

Luke would continue to flit in and out of the Argyle team before a loan spell at Leyton Orient at the start of last season seemed to finally give him the belief that would help his game.

He returned to Argyle action in the festive period of 2009 and showed an improved physical prowess that would only complement his expansive passing game.
