DEFENDER Réda Johnson began his career with Gueugnon in France, the country of his birth.
He moved on to join Amiens without making an appearance for Gueugnon and the elegant defender only had 15 outings for his new club when a number of clubs began sniffing around in the summer of 2009.
Aberdeen briefly headed the list of possible destinations for Réda but Argyle made a late swoop, and an imperious display during a pre-season friendly at Morecambe convinced Paul Sturrock to sign the young defender.
Injury hampered the early stages of Réda's Argyle career but he soon emerged as a perfect centre-back partner for converted midfielder Kári Árnason.
Réda's first season as a Pilgrim was interrupted by a trip to the African Cup of Nations with Benin, who he had chosen to represent ahead of USA, Algeria and France, all of whom he was eligible to play for.
