SCHOOLBOYS Sam Gallagher and Aaron Bentley were on target when our youngsters resumed their Football League Youth Alliance fixtures against the Bulls' under-18 team at Hereford Leisure Centre.
It was our first game since December 6, but we were quick to assert ourselves, with Jared Sims, Jordan Copp and Jed Harper-Penman particularly prominent.
Sixteen-year-old striker Gallagher, followed up his hat-trick for the under-16's at Bournemouth the previous weekend, by opening the scoring after just 9 minutes with a superb header from a cross by left back Jamie Richards.
Seven minutes later, centre-back Bentley, also 16, headed a second goal from a left-wing corner taken by Harper-Penman.
However, from that high point, things seemed to go downhill from our point of view as the game progressed.
The plucky, but previously pointless, home side underlined their potential to cause a surprise when their midfielder Joe Tumulty struck our crossbar with a firm 20-yard drive shortly before the break.
Then, on 57 minutes, a defensive misunderstanding allowed home striker Jack Biggs to pull a goal back with an unchallenged side-footed effort from just six yards.
We had to thank schoolboy 'keeper Christian Walton for making a crucial save with his legs and then right back Andrew Elcock for clearing a goal-bound shot off the line, as the Bulls piled on the pressure.
In the end, the almost inevitable equaliser arrived twelve minutes from time, when Tumulty arrowed a low 20-yard drive straight into the bottom corner of our goal..
