Argyle's Backroom Team
Manager Ryan Lowe
RYAN Lowe joined the Pilgrims in June 2019 from Bury, having guided the Shakers to promotion from Sky Bet League Two during his first full season in management in 2018-19.
After leaving Liverpool’s Academy as a teenager, he started his career in non-league with Burscough. A prolific striker at that level, Lowe was handed his chance in the Football League with Shrewsbury in 2000.
After spells with Chester City, Crewe, Stockport County and Chester again, his association with Bury started in 2009. While there, he broke a 53-year-old club record by scoring in eight consecutive league games – the record breaker coming against former club Shrewsbury.
Upon leaving Gigg Lane in 2011, he spent a season each at Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons and Tranmere before returning to Bury in 2014, scoring 15 times in 53 outings.
He would depart once more in 2016, joining Crewe on loan, and stayed on the following year before returning as a Shaker for a third time as player-coach.
Assistant Manager Steven Schumacher
STEVEN Schumacher joined Argyle as assistant manager to Ryan Lowe after the duo left Bury at the end of the 2018-19 season.
‘Schuey,’ a combative goalscoring midfielder, started his career in 2002 with his boyhood club Everton, and he also captained England at under-19 level. Having spent time on loan at Oldham and Carlisle, Schuey joined Bradford permanently upon the expiry of his Goodison Park deal in 2004.
After three years with the Bantams and then Crewe Alexandra, Schumacher joined Bury in 2013. He captained the Shakers during his time at Gigg Lane and enjoyed his best goalscoring return, scoring 23 in 114 games.
Fleetwood was his next destination, where he played over 60 times for the Cod Army before turning out for Stevenage and then non-league Southport.
He called time on his playing career in 2018 to become assistant to Ryan Lowe, where, in their first season in the dugout together, they led Bury to Sky Bet League Two promotion.
First-Team Coach Kevin Nancekivell
FIRST-TEAM Coach Kevin Nancekivell continued his long association with the Pilgrims when asked by new manager Ryan Lowe to remain part of the backroom team at Home Park in the summer of 2019.
A goalscoring midfielder in his playing days, Nance made a fine impression at Tiverton Town, earning him a professional contract with Argyle at the age of 28 under the stewardship of Kevin Hodges.
Nance moved into coaching with the Argyle Centre of Excellence and was promoted to the first-team coaching staff in 2010.
After a brief spell as the Professional Development Phase Coach at Torquay United, Nance returned to the Home Park Academy set-up in 2015 before moving up to first-team coach under former manager Derek Adams.
Goalkeeping Coach Rhys Wilmot
GOALKEEPING Coach Rhys Wilmot has been working full-time with the Pilgrims for the past couple of season but has been involved with developing Academy custodians at Home Park for many years.
Rhys enjoyed an outstanding playing career, coming through the ranks at Arsenal and enjoying loan spells with Hereford, Leyton Orient and Swansea.
He made the permanent switch to Argyle in 1988 and, over the course of the next four years, Rhys set his reputation as one of the finest goalkeepers ever to represent the Pilgrims.
He finished his playing days with the likes of Grimsby, Crystal Palace and Torquay. As well as working with the first-team goalkeepers at Argyle, Rhys also coaches in the Home Park Academy.

Head of Strength and Conditioning John Lucas
JOHN Lucas was appointed as Argyle's new Head of Strength and Conditioning under manager Ryan Lowe in the summer of 2019.
Lucas started his coaching career at Rochdale in 2007 and stayed for four years before going to Barnsley in 2011 and then he linked up with Lowe at Bury in 2014.
First-Team Analyst Jimmy Dickinson
JIMMY Dickinson also came into the club in the summer of 2019, appointed as first-team analyst having worked with Ryan Lowe previously at Bury.
Dickinson learned his trade with a placement at Rochdale while completing his university degree, moving to his boyhood club of Bury in 2014.
