Fletch: 'Life's Good'

ARGYLE manager Carl Fletcher is thoroughly enjoying life as a manager.

Fletch, who is about to embark on his first full season in charge at Home Park after stepping up to the role following Peter Reid’s departure last September, is relishing his role at the helm of the club.
“Now there aren’t any games it’s alright," joked Fletch.
"My wife has found it easier at the minute anyway because she can talk to me. Well, she even gets to see me which is a bonus!
“I do really enjoy it, though.
"You have good days and bad days, just like any job you could have and sometimes, you do get the hump about things, but that’s just part and parcel, isn’t it?
“All the staff are working hard and we’re doing what we have to in order to make sure we’re ready for the start.”
A lot is made about the levels of pressure placed upon the heads of managers all across the country by the powers above in the board room, but Fletch feels his relationship with Argyle Chairman James Brent allows him to simply get on with the job.
“I keep him well informed of everything that’s going on. He lets me get on with the football side of things and when we need to speak to one another we do,” he said.
“At the end of the day he’s employed me to manage the football club so why wouldn’t he. There’s a lot of chairman around the country who like to have their two pennies worth if you like but he’s not like that.”
