Darren's Day

AFTER a short injury lay-off, Argyle captain Darren Purse is on the road to recovery and could feature in Saturday’s home fixture against Gillingham.

Darren last starred for the Pilgrims against Cheltenham in October before a recurrence of an old toe injury saw him miss trips to Rotherham and Dorchester.

However, Argyle manager Carl Fletcher believes he will be fit to face the league leaders this weekend.

Carl said:  “He’s been training the last few days.

“He did a bit of light training on Tuesday and obviously he’s been out for two weeks so I think it was a bit too much to throw him straight back in (against Burton).”

“He’ll be in contention for a place (for the Gillingham game), though.”

Meanwhile, stand in skipper Maxime Blanchard suffered a nasty blow to his knee during the Burton match and Fletch says he will assess the knock over the next couple of days.

“We’ll have to see,” he said.

“He made the quickest recovery ever! One minute he was carried off of the pitch the next he was jogging back on so I’m not sure about that one. to be honest!”
