Wotts Up

ROBBIE Williams pinpointed the loss of Paul Wotton as a crucial factor in the Pilgrims’ 3-1 defeat by Port Vale on Saturday.

Argyle were 1-0 up and cruising when, early in the second half, Wottsy gave best to a groin problem that had troubled him since the opening moments of the game.

After that, Vale scored three times to totally turn the game on its head.

“[Port Vale] probably had a bit of a rollicking at half-time,” said Robbie, who scored the Argyle opener after 18 minutes.

“They came out for the second half, put their foot in, changed it, made it a physical battle, and we really haven’t got the players, apart from Wotts, who does it well.

“When he came off, it killed us a bit. He’s massive to us.

“He’s perfect for us as a back four. He sits in front of us and guides the rest of the midfielders.

“When he went off, it seemed we were a bit weak, a bit vulnerable.”
