The Road To Recovery

ARGYLE player of the year Onismor Bhasera thinks that next season will be the first step back towards reclaiming past glories for the Pilgrims.

Baz helped Argyle retain their Football League status during a storming end-of-season run which saw them stay clear of the relegation places despite a last-day 1-0 defeat at Rochdale.

“It is a relief to stay in the Football League,” said the Zimbabwean international defender.

“This is a big club which should be in the Championship.

“It’s unfortunate that we ended up losing the last match, but it’s a job done. The loss can’t take away what we have done in the last couple of weeks.

“To stay in the League is a job well done by the lads. Their work-rate and performance has been spot on.

“We are happy now.

Baz, who is out of contract in the summer, has been with the Pilgrims since 2010 and experienced all the struggles that have best the club over the period, including two relegations.

He said: “It’s always frustrating to be part of relegation. I understand that things haven’t been going well for the past three or four years – it has been a very, very hard time on and off the pitch.

“But we managed to stay up. Next season will be a stepping-stone for the club to get back to where it belongs.”
