Sarginson On Saturday

SATURDAY'S referee for our our first home Sky Bet League 2 game of the season is Chris Sarginson.

In the last three seasons, Chris has officiated five of our  matches, of which we have won just one.

That was a 3-2 League 2 triumph at Dagenham & Redbridge in October 2011 when Simon Walton scored a last-minute penalty after Damian McCrory was sent off for fouling Isaac Vassell.

Chris was also in charge of our Championship game at Sheffield United in February 2010, when were were pipped 4-3 by the Blades after beimg 3-0 down.

Chris last officiated at Home Park back in February when Oxford United, with Luke McCormick in goal, were the visitors in a 1-0 defeat for Argyle.

However, it could well have been 2-0, had Sarginson not come to his senses by ruling out a bizarre own-goal.

No Goal:Guy Branston and Durrell Berry protest

It happened when Guy Branston's clearance dropped on the top of his own net, bounced back into play, and ended up in the Argyle net.

Initially, a goal was awarded, before, following long protests and a discussion between officials – at least one of who had seen something that had not happened – the correct decision of a corner was arrived at.

Branston was booked for his part in the protests.

Chris made his debut this season at Northampton in midweek when he booked four players in the Cobblers' 2-1 Capital One Cup tie defeat by MK Dons, for who Jason Banton netted the winner.

Last season, Chris officiated in 29 matches, showing 66 yellow cards and four red, of which two were straight dismissals - for  a professional foul and violent conduct.

He also awarded five penalties, all for fouls.
