Gotcha

ANTHONY Charles is no stranger to Argyle manager John Sheridan, who admits that he has long been admirer of the 31-year-old defender.

Charles, who can play at left-back or in central defender, joined as a free agent until the end of the season on Thursday having been released from his contract at Northampton Town.

“I’ve always liked Charles as a player,” admitted John.

“He’s a left-footed centre-half and was captain of Aldershot when they got in the plays-off in this division a couple of years ago.

“You don’t get many left-footed centre-halves and he’s a player who can play in two positions so he covers those areas.

“I’ve even looked at the games he’s played in for Northampton this season, who’ve always got results when he’s figured.

“He’s at an age where he wants to play for as long as he can.

“He shouldn’t be sitting around and watching football, he should be playing and trying to impress so he can win himself a longer contract.

“And he’ll definitely help us with his experience.”
