Family Club Of The Year

ARGYLE are the npower League 2 Family Club of the Year.

The Pilgrims picked up the honour at Sunday night’s prestigious Football League Awards, held at the Brewery in London.

The Family Club of the Year Award recognises the club’s work to encourage families to games.

Argyle were nominated for the same award in 2008, 2009, and 2010 and this year impressed the judging panel with our state-of-the-art match-day Family Zone for All Area.

The Family Zone for All – which is enjoyed by both home and away fans – complements two other match-day initiatives: Match-day Magic, a package for, again, both home and away teams’ families incorporating a coaching session; and Young Carers, a partnership with Barnardos, offering young carers the opportunity to experience a match-day and provide some respite/rewards.

Argyle’s Head of Community Mark Lovell, who alongside Head of Communications Rick Cowdery picked up the award on behalf of the club, was thrilled that all of the club’s hard work had been recognised.

“Plymouth Argyle is unashamedly a family and community-based football club,” he said.

“Lots of people from different departments at the club work very hard to ensure that families enjoy their day at Home Park and that we are an integral part of the community.

“These are exciting times for Plymouth in sport and leisure terms, with the planned new £50m development of the Higher Home Park area adding such destinations as an ice rink and cinema to an already popular Life Centre,

“Argyle are delighted to be playing a crucial part in these developments, which tie in totally with our commitment to being a family-oriented club at the heart of the community.”

The Family Zone for All really is the perfect place for families who like football.
