Argyle Youth Report

Swindon Town U-18's 0 Plymouth Argyle 2

Argyle's youngsters warmed up for next Tuesday's FA Youth Cup match against Bristol Academy by recording their third consecutive Youth Alliance League victory.

Kevin Hodges' lads have now gone over 300 minutes without conceding in the league and this was another fine defensive performance as they restricted their hosts to just one early chance and another in the dying minutes of a game that was already won by that time.

The game was played in difficult conditions with a high wind and a very wet surface not helping the football flow but it was Argyle who adapted the better to the conditions with Ben Purrington and Callum Hall had both going close for the Pilgrims in a goalless first half.

It was not until the 62nd minute that Argyle finally made the breakthrough. Solomon Wheatley saw his fierce drive parried by the Robins' goalkeeper, but Louis Rooney reacted to fire the loose ball home from close range.

Argyle scored again, within a minute, as Hall broke down the right to cut inside and fire a low, right-foot, shot inside the near post to complete the scoring.

Plymouth Argyle: Andrew Hannah, Mason Hughes, Ben Purrington (c), Will Sargent (Tom Moxham 73), Nathan Summers, Aaron Bentley, Solomon Wheatley, Kieran Asumadu-Sakyi, Louis Rooney (Ethan Stark 65), Jake Miller (Joshua Hutchinson 65), Callum Hall.
